EP1: Season 6 Has Arrived!
Episode 1 of 12
Season 6 of The Amazing Race has finally arrived. This race started in Chicago with the introduction of the 11 teams competing for the million dollars. The race, of course, started with host Phil Keoghan's famous words, "The world is waiting for you." And they were off.
(The racers dashing from the start in Chicago)
The racers first destination: Iceland. The racers first went to a huge waterfall to receive their first clue in Iceland. A horrible thing happened at the waterfalls. One of the teams, Hayden & Aaron, had already been to the waterfall and was going towards the next destination at a glacier. They passed best friends Meredith & Maria and signaled them to follow them even though they knew that the best friends hadn't yet got the clue at the waterfalls. This was so evil! I was shocked! Stuff like this usually doesn't start happening until further into the race. Once Meredith & Maria found out that they were an hour and a half away from the clue that they needed, they were so calm. They were like, "ok, let's go get it." No freaking out, no nothing. They eventually caught back up, though. The teams raced up to the largest glacier in Europe and rested a little bit. The teams had to pick the times to leave in the order that they arrived. It was funny seeing the father/daughter team Gus & Hera. That team is so hilarious! (well at least the dad is) As they travel in car, the dad (Gus, this big fat guy) is like "don't go so fast. Let them pass." Of course, the girl is crying. As they pull up to the camp on their snowmobile, they are going extremely slow while the dad is driving. As they approach, the dad and daughter fall over into the snow. When they arrived at the waterfall, the dad isn't really concerned. He takes his time and even takes time to notice another team is there and stops to wave and say hi. He is so cool and collective. It was disturbing seeing the dad wake up. Evidently, he sleeps only in his underwear, and he comes out of the tent half naked. Then, he starts rubbing snow all over his body to "wake up."
(The father/daughter team Gus & Hera)
The wrestlers are pretty dang funny, too. They are all the time yelling at each other, except this is how they communicate. They even randomly take off their clothes and start wrestling each other. The woman usually wins. After leaving the camp, the teams race to Glacier Ice Beach. At this location, the teams have their first Detour. The choice was between "Ice Climb" and "Ice Search." In Ice Climb, the teams had to face their fears of heights and climb up the side of a glacier. In Ice Search, the team had to get into a boat a search through a 7 square foot body of water in search for the next clue. This definitely was the worst choice since it took so long to do; people, however, did choose this. The annoying Jewish boys from New York choose this option and fell very far behind. On the way to the Pit Stop of the first leg of the race (the Blue Lagoon Resort of Iceland), the formerly dating team Adam & Rebecca stopped to fill up their car and put in the wrong type of gas. Talk about a boo-boo! The helpful Icelanders (?) got them back on their way and didn't fall too far behind. The first team to get to the Pit Stop was the dating actors Hayden & Aaron (who I ironically used as the winners in my test run of my sidebar). They were followed by long-distance daters Kris & Jon and, in third, came sisters/Mormons Lena & Kristy. The high school buddies got lost when they arrived at the Blue Lagoon and were the first team to be eliminated from Amazing Race 6. Not a major loss.
(The High Buddies made the wrong choice by doing the "Ice Search," which led to their elimination)
I have discovered the new Colin & Christie (season 5 viewers understand this). Married entrepreneurs Jonathan & Victoria. Gosh, Jonathan is exetremely annoying and cruel. He yells, "I'm getting a divorce." This is very similar to Colin's "I hate you" statement to Christie last season.
(The new Colin & Christie team)
Things are a little different in season 6. The teams are showing their true colors very soon in the game. You usually don't see such screaming and backstabing so soon in the game, but it has already began. Well, this season holds the possibility of being great (even though I do miss the Bowling Moms, the midget, and the many Christians)!
